    Iphone 5 Incase Slider, October 11, 2012

This review is from: Incase CL69035 Slider Case for iPhone 5 – Black (Wireless Phone Accessory)

I’ve owned many previous versions of the Slider Case from Incase. They have always been quality pieces with the exception of the rubberized coating wearing away over time. I was excited that the Slider was almost immediately available for the Iphone 5. The fit and finish is similar to the previous gen (Iphone 4/4S) case with a few exceptions. There are several rough edges left over from the molding process that are near the junction of the bottom panel and the top panel. But more importantly the fit of the case overall is somewhat less than satisfactory. The phone feels “loose” in the case and there is definite case flex when you squeeze the phone. It is fairly easy to slip the long portion off the phone by mistake. It does not appear to “grasp” the phone as previous cases did very well. The 4/4S version hugged the phone very tightly and thus felt very strong in combination with the phone. The 5 case feels flimsy because of its poor fit and lack of tightness. Perhaps this is just the first batch of Sliders they rolled out without enough time to finalize the fit after release of the 5. I hope so.

    Great case, October 15, 2012
    By

I just purchased a 5 after using my 3GS for 4+ years. I had used a case by incase and it was solid, durable and kept my iPhone in immaculate shape. So when it came time for me to get a case for my new device, I didn’t need to spend much time!

I purchased the metallic gray slider case – It has a matte finish with some sort of slide-preventing rubber-ish emulsion. The functionality of this one works exactly like my last one did – two pieces covering 80% and 20% of the phone, that converge just above the Home button. Removing the case is a breeze.

There are just a couple small gripes I have. The biggest is the fact that while all controls are accessible, I tried to use my headphone jack to hook my iTunes up to my stereo receiver but the plug was impeded by the case (I didn’t have this problem the last time). I’m sure I’ll find a workaround, but it’s sort of annoying to have to take the case off to do this each time.

And on that same subject, I wouldn’t advise taking the case off unless you really have to. My last case, while effective, scratched up the back side of the phone from years of taking it off/on. I have to believe the new aluminum backing of the phone will follow suit. Also, the rubber emulsion layer on the last case I had slowly peeled off over time, leaving me with a glossy but very scratched up phone case. Time will tell if this one will as well. Still, if it’s as effective, I’m sure I’ll get over it. Worth the buy.
