You probably saw this below the Native Union Moshi Moshi Retro POP handset for about $10 bucks less.

The reason for that is it’s not a Native Union Moshi Moshi Retro Pop handset, it’s a cheaply made knockoff ‘Retro Pop’ handset.

    DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM.

Spend a few extra bucks and buy the real thing – I bought both and there’s really no comparison here, one’s a great product, the other’s a cheaply made plastic knockoff that sounds like crap.

I was very excited when I first got the product. It works exactly as you’d expect. You can quickly answer the phone while it’s being charged or just sitting on your desk. To answer, just pick up the handset and touch the button on the inside of the handle. The button also ends a call and even works with Siri on the iPhone 4S, so you can speak to dial, read/send text messages and use other voice controls without touching your phone.

Unfortunately, mine broke after only 6 weeks of light use. The wiring at the plug is so fragile that it simply came apart. The cord is tightly coiled, and most phones aren’t heavy enough to stretch it to full length. The result: If you stand up while using the handset, the phone will come flying off the desk! I suppose I did this too many times, as the weight of the phone pulled at the wiring, and the wires broke under the strain. The manufacturer could improve the product by using stronger gauge wires, or looser coils that stretch rather than lift the phone.

If you like the design–and I do recommend that–you should buy from another vendor since this model is very cheaply made.

About 2 months after receipt (after it could no longer be returned, of course), one of the two handsets I ordered shorted out. About a month’s worth of static in the cord when the cord was moved about and, shortly thereafter, it simply stopped working altogether. I could hear the other end of the line but they could not hear me. The option no longer exists for me to CONTACT THE SELLER to address it directly even though there are items I ordered prior to this in January from other sellers where the option still exists. Will be throwing away an expensive piece of plastic.
